Justin Hellman
Bassist/composer Justin Hellman is the leader of Monkey Knife Fight, and he writes most of the music that the band performs. He has a bachelors degree in music from UC Berkeley, and has studied privately with Michael Manring, Kai Eckhardt, and Stephen Tramontozzi. Over the years, he has played with Paul McCandless, Paul Hansen, Steve Coleman, Henry Threadgill, and Will Bernard.

Holly Earnest
Keyboardist Holly Earnest has been playing since the age of five. She is classically trained, and had won numerous junior competitions by the age of 14 including the Kalamazoo Bach Festival Junior Division & St. Cecilia Junior Concerto Competition. Holly is new to the Bay Area, but has study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Her current influences include Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder & Page McConnell.

Khalil Doak Anthony
Bay Area native Khalil Doak Anthony is the guitarist of Monkey Knife Fight. He received a scholarship to the Berklee School of Music, studied music at San Francisco State, and has studied privately with John Handy. Doak-Anthony has performed at some of the best venues in the area, including the Great American Music Hall, and he has worked with a diverse array of artists including Narada Michael Waldon, Lonnie Smith, Calvin Keys, Sheila E., and Herbie Lewis.

Michael Pinkham
The glue of this band is Michael Pinkham, whose relentless grooves on the drums can always get people moving. Pinkham has studied with Colin Bailey and Alan Hall, and he currently plays with Albino, Diegos Umbrella, the Sun Masons, and in Super Bacana with bandmate Doak-Anthony. He is well known in the Bay Area music scene and has performed with nationally touring act G. Love and Special Sauce. |
